Inside our Parkville dumpster guide

This page covers renting a dumpster from MAC Dumpsters in Parkville. It walks through the neighborhoods off Harford Road, why the 20 and 10 yard lead here, and what can't go in the container. It also covers setting a container under Parkville's big trees, the yard and cleanout seasons, and the nearby towns we deliver to.

Can I rent a yard waste dumpster in Parkville?

Yes. MAC Dumpsters rents 10, 15 and 20 yard roll-offs for yard waste in Parkville, including limbs, brush, leaves, shrubs, stumps and sod. A 20 yard at $550 takes a full-yard cleanup with 3 tons included. Stumps and sod are heavy, and weight over the included tons is $125 per ton.

Soil still attached to a stump or sod is fine. Loose dirt from regrading has to stay out. Our yard waste dumpster page covers how brush and stumps load.

Parkville dumpster rental along Harford Road

Harford Road and the streetcar-era blocks

Parkville started as 19th-century truck farms and grew with the Harford Road streetcar lines in the 1920s. Some of Parkville's oldest houses, like the 1920s bungalows in the Harford Park area, date from that era. Some come with a detached garage out back, and a garage cleanout is a common first job.

The post-war streets

Most of Parkville went up in the post-war boom, and it's mostly 1950s single-family homes with large yards and mature trees. When a house that's stayed in one family for decades changes hands, the cleanout is big, and the remodel that follows is usually overdue.

Around Double Rock Park and Parkville Shopping Center

Double Rock Park started as 43 acres the Parkville Lions Club bought in 1946 and gave to the county in 1952. The streets around it and around the Parkville Shopping Center are typical post-war Parkville, with deep yards and big shade trees.

Toward Carney, Belmont Park and Loch Raven Reservoir

Up toward Carney, Belmont Park and Loch Raven Reservoir, 1950s Cape Cods sit alongside townhouses from the 1980s. Wooded lots up this way mean more limbs after a storm.

Dumpster sizes for Parkville houses and yards

In Parkville, the 20 yard leads for whole-house and whole-yard jobs, and the 10 yard leads for garages and single rooms. The 15 yard handles the remodels in between.

MAC Dumpsters 20 yard roll-off dumpster

20 yard for a whole house or a whole yard

Clearing out a house after decades in the family, or cutting back a yard that's been growing since the 1950s, fills the 20 yard dumpster at $550. It holds about eight pickup loads with 3 tons included. Brush is bulky and light until stumps go in, so the 3 tons helps.

MAC Dumpsters 10 yard roll-off dumpster

10 yard for the detached garage

The 10 yard roll-off dumpster takes a one-car garage, an attic or a single room, with about four pickup loads and 1.5 tons for $375. It's the size for a Saturday clear-out.

MAC Dumpsters 15 yard roll-off dumpster

15 yard for a kitchen or bath remodel

A kitchen or bathroom redo in a 1950s house fits the 15 yard container at $450, with about six pickup loads and 2 tons.

Estimates assume standard 33-gallon trash bags and a full-size pickup bed loaded level with the sides. Actual capacity depends on the material and how it's loaded. Included tonnage applies no matter how full the dumpster looks, and weight over it is billed per ton.

What's not allowed in a roll-off dumpster?

In a MAC Dumpsters roll-off, concrete, brick, block, asphalt, dirt, paint, hazardous materials, appliances with freon and household garbage are not allowed. Yard waste, furniture, household junk, renovation debris and shingles are. Tires, mattresses, box springs, electronics and non-freon appliances go in for a fee.

In an older Parkville house, watch the basement. Old paint cans and a basement fridge or freezer with freon have to stay out, even if they've sat there for decades.

Typical Parkville cleanouts and projects

  • A whole house after a long ownership

When a house that's been in one family since the 1950s changes hands, everything goes at once: furniture, boxes, the basement, the attic and the garage. Our estate and whole-house cleanout page explains swap-outs if one container isn't enough.

  • Overgrown yards and old trees

Mature trees mean limbs, and big yards mean years of overgrown shrubs and hedges. After a thunderstorm, downed limbs are the first call. Stumps and sod go in too.

  • Garage and attic clear-outs

Detached garages and attics collect decades of tools, bikes, paint cans, holiday bins and furniture. Everything except the paint can go in.

  • 1950s kitchen and bath remodels

Original kitchens and baths come out as cabinets, plaster, tile and fixtures. That debris runs heavy for its size.

Placing a dumpster at a Parkville house

  • Driveways with room to spare

Most Parkville houses have a real driveway, so placement is usually easy. Put the container close to the door or garage you'll load from. We can set it on any surface, so a side yard works too. If a container ever has to go on the street, see our guide to dumpster permits first.

  • Working around mature trees

Big shade trees are the main thing to plan around here. Look up before you pick a spot: low limbs and overhead wires along the driveway can block the drop. Call if you're not sure. Our dumpster placement guide shows what to check.

What are the rules for dumping furniture?

The main rule is to only put furniture where you have permission. Leaving it at a curb your trash service doesn't collect from, or beside someone else's dumpster, can count as illegal dumping. Furniture in a MAC Dumpsters roll-off you've rented is fine, and it costs nothing extra.

Mattresses and box springs are the exception to no-fee furniture, at $30 each.

Parkville's yard and cleanout seasons

Fall is yard season in Parkville, with leaves, limbs and the shrubs that finally come out. Spring brings the other half of the yard work and most of the house cleanouts. Summer is remodel time.

Storms hit hardest here through the trees. Summer thunderstorms and high winds bring limbs and whole trees down across yards and fences, and winter storms can do the same with ice. Heavy rain can put water in a basement, which turns a storage room into a cleanout.

Why Parkville books MAC Dumpsters

Brush and stumps in the same container

You don't need one plan for the brush and another for the stumps. Both go in the same roll-off, and you only pay extra if the load passes its included tons.

A 20 yard for the house that's been full since the 1950s

Decades of belongings need room. Our largest container holds about eight pickup loads, and a full one is switched out at the same price.

A garage job for $325

Clear a garage in 3 days or less, and code 3DAY takes $50 off a 10 yard. That's $325 for the weekend.

Asked by Parkville homeowners

Where can you dump old pillows?

Clean pillows can sometimes go to an animal shelter. Worn-out ones go out with your regular trash, or into a MAC Dumpsters roll-off with the rest of a cleanout, at no extra fee.

What types of items are illegally dumped?

Mattresses, tires, furniture, appliances, construction debris and bags of yard waste are some of the most common. They're dumped because they're bulky or carry a fee. A rented dumpster keeps them on your own property until they're hauled, with published fees for tires ($15) and mattresses ($30).

Can I rent a garbage dumpster in Parkville?

Not for household garbage. Kitchen trash and bagged everyday garbage belong with your regular collection. A MAC Dumpsters roll-off is for cleanout junk, furniture, yard waste and renovation debris.

Do you deliver dumpsters to Carney?

Yes. We deliver to Carney, Parkville and the neighborhoods around Loch Raven Reservoir. Every address gets the same prices and no delivery fee.
