For most jobs, MAC Dumpsters recommends the 15 yard over the 10 yard. For $75 more, the 15 yard holds about two more pickup truck loads and includes half a ton more weight. The 10 yard is the better pick for one-room cleanouts, small roofs and driveways too short for a 14-foot container. Both come from our Middle River, MD yard with 14 days, no delivery fee, and a place among our 10, 15 and 20 yard containers.
MAC Dumpsters, owned by Adam and Tara Graf, has rented roll-off dumpsters from Middle River, MD since 2023. We own five 10 yards and four 15 yards among our 12 containers, and we deliver both sizes on our own truck across Baltimore City and Baltimore, Harford and Anne Arundel counties. Customers rate us 5.0 on Google, and the 15 yard is the size they book most.
10 yard: 12 ft × 89 in × 38 in, about 4 pickup loads, 1.5 tons included, $375
15 yard: 14 ft × 89 in × 48 in, about 6 pickup loads, 2 tons included, $450
This page compares the 10 and 15 yard roll-off dumpsters from MAC Dumpsters in Middle River, MD. It lines up their room, weight, footprint and price, names the projects that suit each size, and gives a clear recommendation. It's for homeowners and contractors in the Baltimore area deciding whether a 10 or 15 yard dumpster will handle their job in one haul.
Get the 15 yard unless your job is clearly small or your spot is short. A 15 yard holds about six pickup truck loads and includes 2 tons for $450, while a 10 yard holds about four loads and includes 1.5 tons for $375. At MAC Dumpsters, running out of room in a 10 yard means a $375 swap-out, which costs five times the $75 step up.

A 15 yard dumpster holds 5 more cubic yards than a 10 yard, which is about two more pickup truck loads. At MAC Dumpsters, it's also 2 feet longer, 10 inches taller and includes half a ton more weight. The 10 yard costs $375 and the 15 yard costs $450.
| 10 yard | 15 yard | |

| Dimensions | 12 ft × 89 in × 38 in | 14 ft × 89 in × 48 in |
| Capacity | 10 cu yd (270 cu ft) | 15 cu yd (405 cu ft) |
| Pickup truck loads | About 4 | About 6 |
| 33-gallon trash bags | 50 to 70 | 80 to 100 |
| Tons included | 1.5 (3,000 lb) | 2 (4,000 lb) |
| Price | $375 | $450 |
The 10 yard holds about four full-size pickup loads, or 50 to 70 trash bags. The 15 yard holds about six loads, or 80 to 100 bags. That extra two loads is usually the difference between a cleared room and a cleared room plus the garage.
Estimates assume standard 33-gallon trash bags and a full-size pickup bed loaded level with the sides. Actual capacity depends on the material and how it's loaded. Included tonnage applies no matter how full the dumpster looks, and weight over it is billed per ton.
The 10 yard includes 1.5 tons and the 15 yard includes 2 tons, and both charge $125 per ton over that. For shingles, that's about 10 architectural squares in a 10 yard and about 13 in a 15 yard before overage. For 3-tab, it's about 17 and about 22.
Set down, the 10 yard covers 12 feet by 89 inches and the 15 yard covers 14 feet by 89 inches. The 10 yard's 38-inch sides are also 10 inches lower than the 15 yard's 48-inch walls, which makes hand loading a little easier. Our truck typically needs the same room to place either one: about 50 feet straight back, 12 to 14 feet overhead and 10 to 12 feet wide.
The 15 yard costs $75 more. Both include delivery, pickup and 14 days with no delivery fee, and code 3DAY takes $50 off either one for a rental of 3 days or less.
Clearing one bedroom, a spare room or a one-car garage produces about three or four pickup loads of light junk. That fits the 10 yard roll-off with room to spare on weight.
If your spot can't take 14 feet of container, the 10 yard's 12-foot length decides it. This comes up on rowhome pads and on the short driveways of older waterfront homes.
A roof of up to about 10 architectural squares, or about 17 squares of 3-tab, stays inside the 10 yard's 1.5 tons. Past that, the 15 yard's extra half ton is worth the $75.
A 10 yard kept 3 days or less costs $325 with code 3DAY. It suits a quick shed or attic cleanout that's loaded and ready for pickup by Monday.
Cabinets, counters, drywall, flooring and fixtures run past four pickup loads, and tile and plaster add weight fast. The 15 yard dumpster rental gives you both the room and the 2 tons a remodel needs.
Once a cleanout covers more than one space, like a basement plus a garage, or a move-out from a whole floor, it fills about five or six loads. That's a 15 yard job.
Architectural shingles weigh about 300 pounds per square. A roof of 11 to 13 squares, or 18 to 22 squares of 3-tab, goes over the 10 yard's 1.5 tons but stays inside the 15 yard's 2. Our roofing dumpster guide covers layers and bigger roofs.
After a basement or first floor floods, carpet, pad, drywall and furniture from several rooms need the 15 yard's room. Wet material is heavy, so it helps to have the extra half ton too.
Four loads or fewer, book the 10 yard. Five or six loads, book the 15 yard. Past six loads, read our 15 vs 20 yard dumpster comparison instead.
For shingles, count squares first: up to about 10 architectural squares fits a 10 yard, and up to about 13 fits a 15 yard. For tile and plaster, lean toward the 15 yard's 2 tons.
If you have 14 feet of ground for the container and room for our truck to back in, either size fits. If you only have 12 feet, the 10 yard is your size.
Stepping up to the 15 yard costs $75. A swap-out on a full 10 yard costs $375. If you're unsure, the 15 yard is the safer booking.
Labor depends on the contractor, but the debris side is simple to price. A small single bathroom can fit a MAC Dumpsters 10 yard at $375, and most bathroom guts with tile, plaster or a cast-iron tub are safer in a 15 yard at $450 with 2 tons. We rent the container; the tear-out is done by you or your contractor.
MAC Dumpsters rents small dumpsters, the 10 yard at $375 and the 15 yard at $450, across Baltimore City and Baltimore, Harford and Anne Arundel counties. There's no delivery fee anywhere in that area. Book online or call 410-205-5330.
Yes, a couch can go in either a 10 or 15 yard roll-off dumpster. Both are 89 inches wide, so a couch lies flat on the floor, and the walk-in door lets you carry it in. A couch plus a room of furniture fits a 10 yard, while several rooms of furniture need a 15 yard.
Anything you won't unpack at the new place: broken furniture, old mattresses, stored boxes and garage clutter. For an apartment or a few rooms, a 10 yard dumpster usually holds it. For a whole house with a basement or garage, book a 15 yard, and remember mattresses and box springs are $30 each. See what can go in a dumpster before you load.
Rent a dumpster and use its walk-in door to carry big items in rather than lifting them over the side. A 10 yard fits a few big pieces like a sofa, a dresser and a bed frame. If there are enough big items to fill more than four pickup loads, a 15 yard is the better size.
Going with our recommendation? Book the 15 yard online. If your job is small or your spot is short, book the 10 yard. Still between the two? Call (410) 205-5330 and we'll size it with you.
